Excursie Hamburg

In the beginning of july 2009 a delegation of Dutch urban planners visited the city of Hamburg. The excursion was an initiative of de Stad bv, an urban planning studio that advises government and private parties on urban development strategies. An important part of the bureau’s activities is dedicated to the role of creative industries in urban development.

This is reflected in the themes selected for the working visit: the cultural and arts component of the IBA Hamburg, creative bottom-up initiatives (the so called “broedplaatsen” like Frappant) and the Hamburg Hafensafari. An underlying theme has been the establishment of an intensive knowledge exchange focused on creativity and temporary building projects between Hamburg and Holland (especially Groningen with it’s Ebbingekwartier) through the Creative City Challenge (CCC) and the IBA.

This is a report of the working visit, addressing the visited locations and the most striking outcomes of the working visit. Read the report at 'bestanden'.
